FMEA’s Bill Comparison for January 2018 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $13.61 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.
Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories; the City of Quincy reports the lowest bills in seven categories, the City of Chattahoochee, the City of Tallahassee and Lakeland Electric each report the lowest bills in two categories and the City of Mount Dora in one.
For the three residential bill categories; the City of Chattahoochee reports the lowest bills in two categories while the City of Wauchula reports the lowest bill in one.
For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories, the City of Quincy reports the lowest bills in three categories. The City of Tallahassee and Lakeland Electric report the lowest in two each and the City of Mount Dora in one.
In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the City of Quincy reports the lowest in all four categories.
The FMEA Bill comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
