The electric utility employs 326 staff who serve over 120,000 customers in the Tallahassee area.

ELECTRIC UTILITY ENGINEER I

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Class E Florida driver’s license at the time of appointment.

SALARY

The salary range for the Electric Utility Engineer I is $18.99 – $43.51. The max hire rate will generally not exceed $30.11

ELECTRIC UTILITY ENGINEER II

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering and two years of engineering experience in one or more of the electric utility operational areas.  A master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Class E Florida driver’s license at the time of appointment.

SALARY

The salary range for the Electric Utility Engineer II is $21.96 – $50.49. The max hire rate will generally not exceed $40.35

ELECTRIC UTILITY ENGINEER III

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering and five years of engineering experience in one or more of the electric utility operational areas.  A master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must possess a valid Class E Florida driver’s license at the time of appointment.

SALARY

The salary range for the Electric Utility Engineer III is $25.48 – $58.52. The max hire rate will generally not exceed $50.90

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS ( For ELECTRIC UTILITY ENGINEER I, II OR III)

A successful candidate will be required to complete a personnel risk assessment consisting of an identity verification and seven-year criminal history screening (minimum) and maintain satisfactory clearance for continued employment.

An employee assigned to the Purdom or Hopkins Power Plants must be medically certified to wear a respirator and pass a respirator fit test prior to employment.

An employee assigned to the Purdom Power Plant, or who may be occasionally required to have unescorted access to the Port Facility portion of the Purdom Power Plant, (as determined by the General Manager-Electric and/or the director of such employee’s department), must obtain Transportation Workers Identification Credentials (TWIC) within 90-days of employment, and must maintain such credentials throughout his/her period of employment in that capacity, as a condition of continued employment.
