FMEA’s Bill Comparison for October 2017 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $12.87 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.
Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories, the Town of Havana reports the lowest bills in nine categories; Lakeland Electric reports the lowest bill in five categories; the City of Mount Dora reports the lowest bills in one category.
For the three residential bill categories; the Town of Havana reports the lowest rate in all three.
For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories, the Town of Havana and Lakeland Electric both report the lowest rates in four categories.
In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the Town of Havana reports the lowest rate in two categories and the City of Mount Dora and Lakeland Electric report the lowest rate in one category each.
The FMEA Bill comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
