FMEA Releases Monthly Bill Comparison for June

FMEA’s Bill Comparison for June 2017 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $9.66 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.

Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories, Lakeland Electric reports the lowest bills in seven categories; City of Mount Dora reports the lowest bill in four categories; the City of Tallahassee reports the lowest bills in two categories and the City of Moore Haven and Williston in one.

For the three residential bill categories; Lakeland Electric reports being the lowest bills in two and the City of Moore Haven in one category.

For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories, Lakeland Electric reports being the lowest in three categories, the City of Tallahassee and the City of Mount Dora each report the lowest in two categories and the City of Williston in one. In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the City of Mount Dora and Lakeland Electric both report being the lowest in two categories each.

The FMEA Bill comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
