FMEA Releases Monthly Bill Comparison for August

FMEA’s Bill Comparison for August 2017 shows the average bills of public power utilities across Florida are $11.77 less than the average bills for investor-owned utilities per 1,000 kWh.

Overall, out of fifteen ranked categories, City of Mount Dora reports the lowest bills in seven categories; Lakeland Electric reports the lowest bill in five categories; the City of Tallahassee reports the lowest bills in two categories and the City of Moore Haven in one.

For the three residential bill categories; Lakeland Electric reports being the lowest bills in two and the City of Moore Haven in one category.

For commercial bills, out of eight ranked categories, the City of Mount Dora reports being the lowest in four categories, the City of Tallahassee and Lakeland Electric each report the lowest in two categories.

In the industrial sector, out of four ranked categories; the City of Mount Dora reports being the lowest in three categories and Lakeland Electric in one.

The FMEA Bill comparison provides a fair comparison of customer bills served by different utilities. The report includes utility rates, average franchise fees of 6 percent, and local payments in lieu of taxes.
